His main project, Acacia Ridge is a metal band that has amassed millions of streams on Spotify. His work as a touring drummer has taken him across the United States, and as far as Germany and The Netherlands. Stephen has also recorded drums at some of the finest studios in the world, including Sunset Sound – a studio whose past clients include The Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Michael Jackson, Louis Armstrong and countless other greats.

As a result of his education and varied career, Stephen is able to transcribe, learn, and teach almost any song. In 2019, his transcription work was featured as the cover story of Percussive Notes, the leading journal for percussion pedagogy. For that article, he transcribed the entirety of Elvin Jones’ drumming on A Love Supreme Pt. II, Resolution. No one before him has successfully transcribed the historic performance in its entirety.

Stephen is currently pursuing both an MBA and an MS in Business Analytics from the University of Utah. When he isn’t studying or drumming, you’ll find him exploring the natural world. His hobbies include mountain biking, snowboarding, trail-running, backpacking, and mountaineering.
