MEET JUSTIN
Note from Mike:
Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Justin began playing drums at the age of 12. He studied through private lessons for eight years, and school band in middle and high school. In his junior year, he played for the school musical, Guys and Dolls. From that moment forward he would primarily seek to play drums and percussion for musicals. In all, Justin has played for over 35 theater productions and was the resident drummer for Utah Repertory Theater Company, and The Ziegfeld Theater Company. In addition, he was the drummer/percussionist for the Farewell National Broadway Tour of Elf, the Musical. He continues to contribute to local community and professional theater and averages four to five productions per year.
In addition to theater, Justin has sailed the seas as a cruise ship drummer with Celebrity Cruises. His time on the ship has taken him to seven countries, including three times through the Panama Canal, and a summer in Alaska. Aboard the ship, Justin was the orchestra drummer and spent his time playing the ship’s three production shows, jazz sets in the lounges, and backing guest entertainers. The jazz sets and guest entertainer shows were all sight read, which motivates Justin to include sight reading training in his lessons.
Justin holds a bachelor’s degree in Sociology from the University of Utah and is finishing an additional bachelor’s in Aerospace Engineering. In his free time, Justin enjoys exercising, watching TV, practicing drums and percussion, and spending time with his wife Alison, and beagle Bella.
